The Missouri Safe Communities Pledge

I pledge to oppose the legalization of Video Lottery Terminals (VLTs) in Missouri.

Our communities deserve better than slot machines on every corner. Missouri already has 13 licensed casinos that generate hundreds of millions of dollars for our public schools. We don't need tens of thousands of unregulated gambling devices scattered across our bars, gas stations, and convenience stores.

The evidence is clear: states that have gone down this road have seen increased crime, declining property values, and devastating addiction: hitting our most vulnerable neighbors the hardest.

I stand with law enforcement in calling for the elimination of illegal gambling machines, not their legalization.

By signing this pledge, I commit to:

  • Oppose any legislation that authorizes Video Lottery Terminals in Missouri

  • Support full enforcement of existing laws against illegal gambling devices

  • Keep gambling in licensed, regulated environments with proper consumer protections

  • Protect Missouri's communities, families, and small businesses from the proven harms of expanded unregulated gambling

Missouri has enough gambling opportunities.

We don’t need VLTs.

Missouri is already home to many legal and
regulated forms of gambling. We don’t need to add
video slot machines.
